Tom Selleck’s Daughter Is All Grown Up And Working As A Professional Horse Breeder

Tom Selleck has been a beloved figure in Hollywood since the beginning of his acting career in the early 1970s. His roles on Magnum, P.I., Friends, and Blue Bloods have made him an unforgettable fixture on television.

Tom Selleck was born in Detroit, Michigan. His family later moved to Sherman Oaks, California. He went to the University of Southern California on a basketball scholarship and played for the Trojans. During this time, he also began modeling.

Tom graduated with a degree in business administration and began to pursue acting. When he received a draft notice during the Vietnam War, he joined the California Coast Guard and served from 1967 to 1973.

Tom was enjoying success as the lead in Magnum, P.I. when he began dating Jillie Mack. The two went on to get married in 1987. In 1988, they welcomed their daughter, Hannah. Today, Hannah is all grown up. Instead of following her father's footsteps in Hollywood, Hannah decided to pursue a career with horses.

After Hannah was born, the family moved to Ventura County. Tom took a break from acting to enjoy family life on the farm. In a 2012 interview, he told People, "I quit Magnum to have a family. It took a long time to get off the train, but I try very hard to have balance, and this ranch has helped me do that."

Hannah grew up with a passion for horses, so her parents were very supportive when she decided to pursue her dream of being an equestrian.

Hannah progressed into riding seriously around the age of 14. As she explained it to the Hollywood Reporter, "I fell in love with the competition itself."

Although Hannah tried a more traditional career path, including a brief stint in PR, she realized she was destined to ride horses.

Tom was supportive of Hannah's dream, which eventually led the two to open a boutique breeding stable in Hidden Valley. "My dad encouraged it a lot. He liked the idea of developing the babies and developing young horses, so he was a big supporter of this idea," Hannah told the Hollywood Reporter.

Hannah has always loved horses, so getting into the breeding game only made sense.

"We want to show that we can produce the horses in the States, having them on the ground as foals and bringing them up through the young horse classes," she told Sidelines.

She splits her time between breeding and competing, often working with younger horses because she enjoys the process of teaching them.
