A lot of the talk around Prince Harry's relationships with the royals has quieted recently. It's unclear if Harry's just enjoying being a dad of two or if he's saving his grievances for his memoir, but things have seemed relatively quiet on the Sussex front.
Behind the scenes, sources say the quiet is actually peace, for a change. Despite their differences, one source believes they're trying to come together not just to mend fences but for their children's sakes.
That involves some modern technology, particularly video chats. We heard a lot about how great the royals became at video conferences. Now they're reportedly putting those skills to use to get the family back together.
A royal author is giving some insight into how relations between Camp Cambridge and Camp Sussex may be going. Stewart Pearce, author of Diana: The Voice of Change, says the two families have been using video chats to keep in touch from thousands of miles away.
"I know that the four are talking with one another and they're talking by Zoom [and by] FaceTime," Stewart told Us Weekly.
"They're very close with one another"
To say the family has been through a lot over the last few years is an understatement. Recent births and deaths have put things in perspective, however. Although the couples are "very different," Stewart says they still have some very important things in common.
"Their lens on the world is highly individualized," he noted.
"And what's remarkable is that they all totally respect [each other], but this lens is different," he continued.
Respect isn't exactly a quality the relationship between the two couples has had an abundance of.
During in-person events together, we've seen people act as buffers between the allegedly dueling brothers. In this situation, it would seem that if they are talking, their wives are doing the heavy lifting. Meghan and Kate both care about family and want certain things for their children, even if their views on just about everything else differ.
It seems like a stretch that things between William and Harry will ever fully recover. It's been too long and too much has happened, and they were unfortunately born into an institution set to pit them against each other. If there are any chances that their families can have some semblance of a relationship, it will likely be the work of Meghan and Kate.
