There's been a lot of chatter about the divorce between Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock. That's usually the case when high-profile couples part ways, but the divorce made headlines when a judge ruled Kelly had to pay her ex $200,000 a month for spousal and child support. And just last week, a judge ruled that Kelly got to keep the home that Brandon is currently residing in.
It's certainly been a heated battle all around. But one person isn't taking sides. That's Reba McEntire. What does Reba have to do with anything, you might ask? Well, Reba is actually Brandon's ex-stepmom, but she's no stranger to Kelly, either!
Reba was married to the talent manager's father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015. So she was also Kelly's mother-in-law, as well, but not for long.
We all know that Reba is a class act. So it makes sense that she wouldn't go around trashing Kelly. But it's still nice to hear that she has love for her ex-daughter-in-law.
"You know, I love them both," the musician told Extra. "Brandon’s my stepson, Kelly’s my good friend … I am pulling for both of them. I hope they’re happy and healthy and pull though this. I pray everyone gives them the encouragement they can because they need it right now, both of them do. I love the both of them with all my heart.”
She continued, "I've been a friend of Kelly for a long time," she said. "Brandon's been my son forever, it seems like. Although he's my stepson, I still love him like he's my blood. So I'm praying for them both."
Kelly filed for divorce in June of 2020 after seven years of marriage. But the divorce has been pretty slow-moving. It also seems to have become pretty contentious, too.
It's no secret that Kelly really adores Reba. She's previously talked about how she has always looked up to her, even as a little girl. Eventually becoming so close to the star was pretty much a dream come true.
She spoke about her love for the icon on her talk show. "Sometimes when we meet our heroes, it doesn’t always pan out how you hope," she said. "But meeting Reba — being friends with her, and eventually becoming family — has been one of the highlights of my life, truly," she continued.
"So thank you so much for listening to me vent as an artist," she gushed. "Thank you so much for comforting me on the phone through my tears, like a friend. And thank you for being a really rad grandma for my kids."
It seems like the admiration goes both ways. Kelly shared a sweet video Reba sent her for her birthday back in April. Plus, Reba has performed many times with Kelly over the years.
It seems like these country girls known how to have each other's backs.
