Caitlyn Jenner Shares Kris’ Real Thoughts On OJ Simpson Case

Caitlyn Jenner is currently a very busy woman, but that hasn't stopped her from dropping a lot of Kardashian family secrets. After revealing that she and Khloé haven't spoken in over five years in 2019, Caitlyn is back in the news with another dose of truth.

Caitlyn and Kris Jenner were married during the OJ Simpson trial, which had a heavy impact on the Kardashian family. Nicole Brown Simpson was one of Kris Jenner's best friends, and her ex-husband, Robert Kardashian, represented OJ in his trial. OJ was eventually found not guilty of killing Nicole and Ron Goldman, though the verdict has been heavily side-eyed since.

In an episode of the show, Caitlyn reflects on the time period that she calls "difficult." She shared with her costars, "I saw Nicole two days before she was murdered. It was Kris' best friend. We were right in the middle of it."

The Kardashians and the Simpsons were really close before the tragedy that unfolded. In fact, OJ Simpson was Robert Kardashian's best man in his wedding to Kris, and Kris and Nicole were famously great friends. The foursome often attended events together, and they were regularly photographed out and about.

After Nicole's murder, OJ enlisted the professional help and counsel of Robert Kardashian as part of his legal team. OJ maintained his innocence both before and throughout the trial, and he since has spent much of his time capitalizing on the events.

Before transitioning to Caitlyn, she was known as the former Olympian Bruce Jenner. Kris and Bruce were married in April 1991. Nicole Brown Simpson was killed in 1994, two years after she first filed for divorce from OJ Simpson.

In the episode, Caitlyn says, "It was a bad time for everybody, very difficult. This trial was a joke, and when the verdict came down, Kris just turned around to me and goes, 'We should have listened to Nicole from the beginning.' She was right."

During the trial, the prosecution accused OJ Simpson of abusing his wife for 17 years. The team said, "Not only did defendant verbally abuse, physically abuse, degrade and humiliate Nicole through their relationship, but he stalked and harassed her as well."

In rebuttal, the defense team stated that, "Any attempt to characterize Nicole Brown Simpson as a 'battered wife' based upon isolated and widely separated incidents ignores the substantial evidence of a loving relationship which spanned 17 years."

Caitlyn also says that she believes Robert Kardashian knew whether or not OJ Simpson was really guilty. She said, "There's just no way he didn't know." In her book, Caitlyn also said that Robert once told her that he "would've been okay with it if they had gotten [O.J.] in the first trial."

In further detail, Caitlyn says that at least one Kardashian kid believed in OJ's innocence the whole time. "The night the verdict came in, Kourtney and Kimberly … obviously they loved their father, and they should, and they'd been following this for a year and a half. When they walked in the door, I think it was Kourtney who said, 'Well, I told you he didn't do it.'"

But Caitlyn said that she immediately told the girls that an innocent verdict didn't mean anything, and "just because he got a 'not guilty' didn't mean he didn't do it." She then banned the family from speaking about OJ, saying, "I don't want his name ever mentioned in this house again."

Caitlyn also went on to say that when the families vacationed together, she never got along with OJ. However, she did like Nicole a lot. "I liked Nicole and she sure didn't deserve what she got." One can assume that the topic remains an ongoing source of tension for the family.
