Makeup is a truly powerful tool.
A TikToker is being dismissed as a catfish after showing her followers what her fresh face looks like. Julia Grandoni, who goes by @jugrandoni on TikTok, participated in a challenge where people show themselves at their most glam, then totally fresh-faced while singing "girl that's not me."
Julia was amazed at how many of her followers called her everything from a catfish to a "shape-shifter" when she showed her own before-and-after looks.
Julia's video has gotten over 12 million views and countless comments about her transformation.
"My makeup doesn't do that ," one commenter lamented.
"Makeup just accentuates the beautiful features we already have das all you girl," another assured.
Some of the reactions have been a little over the top. There are guys claiming they'll never date again and that every first date should take place in a swimming pool. Julia is ignoring the haters, because she did it all for a greater purpose.
"I decided to make this so I could show people that I am comfortable in my own skin," she told Need to Know.
"To show them that I don't need makeup it's important to show others that themselves should be comfortable in their own skin."
Julia does put a lot of work into her look when she does do it up, and she's not ashamed of it in the slightest.
"It takes me two hours usually to get ready – to put on full glam and extensions," she shared.
Julia is still surprised at how much attention her post has garnered.
"The reaction was pretty good at the start, but later on people started to think different how I'm just some catfish," she said.
"The angle I used at the end of my video was total over exaggerated and it was to perceive that I am ugly IN BIG but other than that it doesn't take much for me to look the way I usually do – I usually never wear makeup."
