A family in Virginia is reeling after a horrific freak accident resulted in the death of a 10-month-old baby. The baby's 35-year-old mother was visiting with family when the accident occurred.
The Prince William County Police Department has explained that the mother put her daughter in the back seat of a car without a car seat to drive a bag of trash down the road.
The mother and baby returned to the family's home to pick up more people. When another family member opened one of the back doors of the car, the baby fell out.
The police explained, "The driver immediately exited the vehicle to check on the child's welfare. The vehicle's transmission was still in drive when the driver exited the vehicle causing it to roll forward where it then struck the child."
