Anna Faris is opening up about the struggle of going through two divorces and how those experiences have changed her as a person.
The actress was on Chelsea Handler's podcast Dear Chelsea and told the host about being a two-time "divorce veteran."
"It hit hard the first time. I turned into somebody that I didn't recognize," she shared. "I was always the kind of person that had their fridge filled. And I hosted a lot of dinners. That was back when I had friends." But Anna said everything changed.
Anna is referring to her split from Ben Indra. They two were married from 2004 to 2008. She says she became someone different in the aftermath.
"I found myself in this apartment with just beer and mustard in the fridge," she said. "I was going out all the time. I had no one to text or call and say, 'Hey, can I do this?' essentially."
While it was a big shift, she also said it was a liberating time to experience freedom again. "I went to a bar, I was like, 'Look how dangerous I am.'" At the same time, she was dealing with big insecurities.
"I was terrified that I wasn't a good lover. Especially when I was younger, I was so self-conscious of my body. I didn't want anybody to see it. But I would dance on the edges of it. I wanted to be desired desperately."
Anna married Chris Pratt in 2009, but that marriage also ended in divorce. The couple split in 2018. They share 9-year-old son Jack, who Anna says is incredibly "well-adjusted."
But after all of the heartbreak, Anna finally feels like she's getting better at marriage. She and cinematographer Michael Barrett eloped last year, and the actress seems more comfortable in this relationship than her others.
"This time, it has been easier for me to accept a lot of love," she said.
"I still kind of struggle with it but … When I was younger, if there was a lot of love — I must've subconsciously liked a chase … It feels healthier, though, whatever it is. It feels like I can be loved."
