Eight-Year-Old Suffers Gash To Head While On Roller Coaster At California Theme Park

Eight-year-old Evie Evans was visiting a theme park in California with her family when she experienced an unlikely injury. Evie was on a roller coaster when she was hit in the head by a cell phone that had come flying out of another passenger's grip.

Evie's mother, Della White, says that on top of that, the family was ignored when they tried to get help at the end of the ride.

Loose articles are prohibited on rides such as roller coasters for exactly this reason, but it seems at least one passenger did not feel compelled to heed that advice. Evie told NBC Los Angeles, "It was really scary. I was screaming and crying."

Evie's sister told the news that a man approached the family after the ride and asked for his phone. He ended up leaving quickly after he saw how hurt the 8-year-old was.

Evie's father tried to file a police report but was told no crime had been committed. He said, "You are not supposed to leave. I thought it was illegal, just like a hit-and-run."
