Anne Heche’s Eldest Son Speaks Out Following Her Death: ‘A Deep, Wordless Sadness’

Anne Heche's son is opening up about how he's handling his mother's death. The actress's eldest child, Homer, says he's utterly devastated.

After the 53-year-old star's death was confirmed on Friday, the 20-year-old opened up about his immense grief in a statement to People.

"My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom," he said in a statement. "After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom."

The statement continued, "Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me," he continued. "I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time."

On Friday, Heche's representative confirmed she was brain-dead following the car wreck that landed her in a coma and destroyed a woman's home. At the time, she was being kept on life support for the purposes of organ donation.

"Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend," the rep said.

Ellen DeGeneres, who dated the actress in the '90s, also shared a post about her. "This is a sad day," she wrote on Twitter. "I'm sending Anne's children, friends and family all of my love."
