Together with her husband, Joey Feek made up one half of the country act Joey + Rory. The duo first found fame on CMT's singing competition Can You Duet? in 2008.
Joey — the musician, celebrity, wife, and mother — died on March 4, 2016, after her battle with cervical cancer.
Despite the ups and downs of treatment, Joey never let her diagnosis diminish her amazing spirit. Rory served as her conduit to their loyal fan base and remained by her side through every twist and turn, from her initial diagnosis after the birth of their first child to her terminal diagnosis.
Joey continued to produce and share her music for as long as she possibly could, releasing “Softly and Tenderly,” her prayer for her baby daughter, just weeks after her illness returned.
When Joey died, their daughter, Indiana, was only 2 years old.
In the emotional clip below, Rory opens up to Rachael Ray about the selfless decision she made in regard to baby Indiana in the months leading up to her death.
"I wouldn’t have done that," Rory told Rachael. "I think I would have said, 'You get forever with her; I want all of it right now.' She had an understanding of the bigger picture."
