TikTok trends are a dime a dozen, but a new one has some users turning their heads — or maybe turning up their noses — at an interesting yet familiar smell.
The new trend is called vabbing, and it's supposed to help you attract a partner in the same way a sweet-smelling perfume might. Except vabbing is when you use your body's natural secretions as perfume. Secretions from your vagina, that is.
If you think that's weird, we feel you. But apparently people are having a lot of success by vabbing, especially at the gym.
The trend was first promoted by TikTok user @jewlieh. When she posted about the interesting idea, it quickly went viral, racking up hundreds of thousands of likes. It's a bit wild, but as she explains in her success story, it kind of makes sense.
When it comes to vabbing, the idea is to dab your vaginal fluid on your pulse points, such as your wrists and behind your ears — pretty much anywhere you would dab regular perfume. That way, when you're sweating it out at the gym, your pheromones will really make their presence known.
The user claimed in her video that after vabbing and going about her business at the gym, a guy randomly approached her. They started talking, hit it off, and made plans to hang out. Obviously, she felt pretty strongly that his desire to come talk to her had to do with her powerful and enticing scent. But who's to say?
There's really no clear evidence about whether or not vabbing works, but pheromones are important when it comes to sexual attraction. Multiple studies have shown that during a woman's most fertile time of the month, men find them more attractive than other times. Essentially, it has to do with estrogen levels, so it's pretty scientific. How far it goes, though, is the real question.
While vabbing probably isn't for everyone, it might be worth a shot! After all, even if it's just in your head, when you feel more attractive, your odds of attracting a partner are likely a bit better anyway.
So, vab away!
