How Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss And His Wife Allison Holker Schooled Us On White Privilege

The world has just lost a great entertainer. Stephen "tWitch" Boss died on Tuesday at the age of 40.

The DJ will always be remembered for his time on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as well as his career as an actor and choreographer. But a social media challenge, which he and his wife Allison Holker made popular, is also a part of his legacy.

The couple took on a TikTok challenge aimed to highlight white privilege. It was the "Check Your Privilege" challenge. They made sure to have their 4-year-old son, Maddox, sit with them as they completed the challenge.

The video shares a list of events and asks you to put a finger down for each of them that you've experienced. "Put a finger down if you've ever been called a racial slur," the TikTok video begins — tWitch puts a finger down.

His fingers continue to go down as the video describes other scenarios. They include having been "followed in a store unnecessarily," "had someone clutch their purse in an elevator with you," and "been accused of not being able to afford something expensive." Before the list is through, tWitch runs out of fingers.

Allison, on the other hand, puts down only one finger throughout the whole video. She puts a finger down when asked if "you ever had to teach your child how not to get killed by the police." At the end of the prompts, they note that having any fingers left is white privilege that should be reflected on.

The couple also used their platforms to support Black Lives Matter.
