Mom Arrested For Stealing Groceries, Hero Officers Realize Her Kids Hadn’t Eaten In Days

This video posted by Wonderbot shares the story of two police officers working in North Carolina who received a call that would end up changing their perspectives on life and their jobs.

In late 2017, two officers received a call about a supermarket theft made by a female shoplifter in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

The shoplifting was spotted by an employee at a chain grocery store while it was in progress. The employee witnessed a woman take food off the shelves and leave the store without paying for her items.

The manager of the store was able to get the license plate number of the woman and the make and model of her vehicle. It was soon discovered that the shoplifter was 44-year-old Theresa West.

It turns out that she had made off with bread, pasta, sauce, and some salad items that totaled around $34. Senior Corporal Keith Bradshaw and his partner, Officer Candace Spragins, were the officers assigned to the case.

After watching the surveillance video, the two officers showed up at West’s home and were met by an individual who seemed apologetic and down.

“She kind of hung her head and told us what was going on and why and that she was sorry,” Bradshaw told ABC11.

According to the ABC affiliate, West then told the officers that her family hadn’t eaten in three days. After they took a quick look in the kitchen, which was almost completely bare of food, West was taken to the station to be booked, and the two officers decided they wanted to help this mother and her family.

They went to the grocery store, filled up their carts, and picked up approximately $140 worth of groceries for West and her children.
