Julia Roberts might have one of the most famous last names in Hollywood, but it turns out it's not really supposed to be her name at all.
Julia recently filmed an episode of Finding Your Roots and discovered that all is not what it seems when it comes to her family tree.
Julia's great-great-grandmother, Rhoda Suttle Roberts, was married to Willis Roberts, who died 10 years before her great-grandfather was born. After finding this out, Julia asked, "Oh, wait — but am I not a Roberts?"
Julia found out that she had a lot of DNA matches with a man named Henry McDonald Mitchell Jr., meaning she is biologically related to the Mitchell family.
Julia was stunned by the news.
She exclaimed, "On the one hand, I — truly — my mind is blown. And it is fascinating. And on the other hand, there's part of me that, when I'm calmer, can still wrap my arms around the idea that my family is my family. And I do prefer the name Roberts!"
