Mom Is Confused When Healthy Son Vomits In Class And Learns About The ‘Monster Closet’

In 2012, a Texas teacher was reading a book to her pre-K students entitled, The After-School Monster.  It's a story about a little girl who comes home from school to find a giant monster hiding in her closet, and the only way to "defeat" him is to face him with courage.

It was around this time that one of the children in the class, four-year-old Kelon Johnson-Chaney, was sent home from school early.

Kelon's mom Kelicia was alarmed to hear her son needed to be sent home. He wasn't sick, but he spent the last part of his day crying so hard that he even vomited.

The little boy proceeded to tell his mom what happened after he got in trouble for laughing in class. His teacher and the teacher's aid knew the school's disciplinary action for such cases was to give time-out, but they took it a step further with a punishment inspired by the book they were reading in class.

Kelon had been locked in a closet for his time-out — but the teacher told him it was not just any closet. When Kelicia learned why Kelon was so upset, she was absolutely livid.
