A 2-year-old pit bull has finally found a loving home to call her own. Strawberry, who is also known as the "unicorn" dog, was nearly euthanized due to a large bump on her head. Instead, she was saved by a Los Angeles-based animal rescue organization and given another shot at life and at love.
The Labelle Foundation is the organization that rescued Strawberry and tended to her as staff searched for a place for her to call home. And in due time, they found her one.
Kristen Kuhlman and her husband, who have twins together, adopted Strawberry and welcomed her into their home with open arms.
"I just kept seeing her picture pop up on the foundation's Instagram page and she was still available," Kristen shared.
"She just had such gentle eyes and, you know, I had never seen a dog like her ever before. I have always joked that I like the dogs that are missing an eye or like only have three legs. Those are the kind of dogs that I like to adopt. So something about Strawberry just felt like she would be a good fit for our family."

Because Strawberry was moved around from shelter to shelter a lot in her life, she had a tough time adjusting to her new home. But with time and patience from her new family, she grew comfortable.
"Boy, she came out of her shell within a couple of weeks and she became the most affectionate dog," Kristen said. "She fits right into our family."
