5-Year-Old Comes Home From School With Heartbreaking Confession & Grandma Steps In To Help

Our kids can be a constant surprise, because just when you think you have their little hearts all figured out, their innate kindness comes out to amaze you even more.

This video story posted by Wonderbot shares how a 5-year-old girl came home from school with a heartbreaking confession and how her grandmother knew she had to do something to help.

Similar to many kids, Sunshine Oelfke from Ishpeming, Michigan, used a piggybank to save up for all sorts of things. Every time she received her allowance, she would immediately take some of it and stash it away for later.

One day, much to her surprise, Sunshine’s grandma, Jackie Oelfke, witnessed her granddaughter emptying out her piggy bank and starting to count out the money. Sunshine had been saving for a snowmobile, which is a rather large purchase, so Jackie didn’t expect to see Sunshine cracking into the piggybank anytime soon.

According to CBS News, when Jackie asked Sunshine why she was digging into her savings, Sunshine told her that she was taking it to school to give to her friend Layla. Sunshine explained that her friend didn’t have any money for milk during lunch and she did, so she wanted to help her out.

Jackie was floored at her granddaughter’s generosity and accompanied Sunshine to school to tell the teacher that she wanted to donate money so her friend could have the milk she needed throughout the week.
