It is never easy to lose a parent or parental figure. It seems almost cruel to have to go through it twice in a week’s time.
This is exactly what comedian Sarah Silverman is facing. On May 3, 2023, she took to Instagram to pay tribute to her stepmother, Janice. On May 12, she paid tribute to her father, who died shortly after her stepmom. The two just could not bear to be apart, it seems.
Sarah was close to her father and stepmother, who had been married for 40 years.
“We laid my beautiful step-mum Janice to rest today. None of us would be us without her. And now we get to remember her every day,” Sarah eulogized her stepmom on Instagram.
Sarah announced the death of her father on Instagram.
“My best pal, Schleppy – my dad, died last night,” she began. “All the sisters, and grandkids surrounded him with love and singing and very dark [expletive] up jokes this final week. But ultimately, he wanted to be with his love, Janice, who we lost last Monday.”

Several celebrities took to the comment section to show their love and support for Sarah.
