Creating a family with your partner is a wonderful, life-changing, and affirming process. Sometimes it is hard not to want to keep going. Jenna Hager Bush admitted on the August 8, 2023, episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna that she would love to have another baby now that her youngest is 4 years old. Jenna’s husband Henry Chase Hager disagrees.
Henry thinks their family is already complete and worries about Jenna’s health because there were some complications when she was pregnant with Hal. Jenna spoke to her cohost Sheinelle Jones about this. Sheinelle was filling in for Hoda Kotb. Time will tell what the married couple end up deciding. Right now, they are a house divided on the issue.
The conversation began because Jenna was telling all about Hal’s fourth birthday party. Sheinelle could not believe how quickly the time flew by. "I know. It’s sort of time for me to have another baby," Jenna stated.
This piqued Sheinelle’s interest. “Is it time?” she asked. "Yeah but …" Jenna sheepishly replied. She was hesitant to fully commit.

Sheinelle got excited and asked if they could make any announcements. Jenna was quick to clarify she is not pregnant. “Not now, but I’m saying, do you think you’d [want to have another child]?” Sheinelle asked relentlessly.
Jenna got a bit flustered. She appeared to be trying to withhold her desires and be fair to her husband. “I’d like to have another baby, but no… You’re going too far,” she eventually responded.
"I’m not going too far," Sheinelle lovingly stated. "Anytime you talk to a woman and she’s [noncommittal about having another baby], it’s happening."
Eventually Jenna squashed the idea once and for all. "No, no, no, we’re not. We’re not. Henry put his foot down. He says we have three healthy babies. I'm 41 [and] I had a little health stuff [while pregnant] with Hal," she corrected the record.
Sheinelle remains unconvinced but hears Jenna for now. She adores Henry. “If you haven’t met Henry, he is so darn cool. You know how much I love your husband. I just think he’s the nicest guy,” she gushed. Jenna did eventually relent that maybe she could convince Henry, but for now it is a firm no.
Jenna and Henry first met in 2004 through mutual friends. “He worked for my dad,” Jenna explained. Jenna's father is former President George W. Bush. “A friend of mine from college was like, his intern at work, and we were going to watch the Texas game, and they were like, ‘Can we bring Henry?’” Good thing they did.
Their first date was eventful. Since Jenna was one of the first daughters, she always had security. “My worst first date involved the Secret Service, let’s just leave it at that," Jenna recalled. “It was with Henry, and his car ran out of gas and went backwards and hit the Secret Service.”
Jenna and Henry were married on May 10, 2008. The ceremony and reception took place at her parents’ Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas. Their first child, Margaret Laura “Mila” Hager, was born on April 13, 2013. Poppy Louise Hager followed on August 13, 2015. On August 2, 2019 Henry Harold “Hal” Hager completed their family — at least for now.
