Robert F Kennedy's granddaughter, Sarah Kennedy, just celebrated her marriage with wedding ceremony on the historic Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. Sarah officially got married on June 17, 2022, but she and her husband, Jam Sulahry, had their second wedding ceremony in August 2023.
Their first wedding ceremony was a nikah, an Islamic marriage ceremony.
Their most recent ceremony focused a lot on the Kennedy legacy, but the couple also made sure to incorporate aspects of Pakistani culture as well. On the night before the wedding, they celebrated with “choreographed Bollywood-style dances, henna tattoos, Pakistani desserts, and traditional Pakistani and Indian music," according to People.
While the pinks and oranges used to decorate were influenced by Cape Cod and the Kennedy Compound, they were also reminiscent of Jam's Pakistani roots.
"Our wedding is unique because we combine [my] Irish Catholic roots with Sulahry’s Muslim Pakistani roots to celebrate our love joyfully," Sarah told People.

The couple took their engagement photos on John F. Kennedy's sailboat and had their ceremony at the RFK House, which was named after Sarah's grandfather. They then had their reception at the JFK house.
“We chose to host our wedding weekend events at the Kennedy Compound and surrounding family homes because of how special it is to us as a backdrop to our lives. It is where we have celebrated the great times and come together in heartbreaking times. It truly feels like coming home," Sarah told People.
Their wedding also featured Kennedy family heirlooms. The couple toasted with champagne flutes known as "Loving Cups," which were used at Robert F. and Ethel Kennedy’s wedding in 1950.
Sarah and Jam met in college, when they were both attending Boston College. Sarah explained that the college organized a trip to Target before classes started, and she met her now-husband in Aisle 10 of the store.
After meeting at Target, they had their first real date in Boston, which involved eating pastries and then walking 11 miles back to their college campus instead of taking public transit. This gave them lots of time to talk.
When the couple had their first ceremony last year, the timing of it was also special; it was held on the anniversary of Robert and Ethel Kennedy's wedding.
"Getting married is about memorializing our love for each other and our commitment to each other for life. We were best friends before dating and grew our relationship through good times and bad. Marriage is the next chapter in our love story, and we couldn't be happier," Sarah said, according to the Daily Mail.
