The world of animal adoption is filled with heartwarming stories of second chances and unexpected connections. One such story centers around a couple’s decision to adopt what was deemed “the saddest cat” from a shelter.
Little did they know that this decision would not only change the life of the cat, but also reveal the incredible power of compassion and healing that can come from the unlikeliest of places.
Ben Ben, a Canadian ginger cat, waited and waited at the shelter to be adopted. It takes a lot for a family to bring a furry new friend into their home, and Ben Ben wanted nothing more than to be loved and comfortable with an accepting new family.
When Ben Ben was found he had “deep lacerations, a mangled ear, and an injured spine.” Ben Ben was not a very happy-looking cat, but it wasn’t because of his rough upbringing and the injuries he had. Ben Ben has too much skin on his face, which gives him a depressed look on his face at all times.
Once the shelter fixed him up, he was then placed with a family. Unfortunately, his new home didn’t last as long as he wanted. Soon after the family took him home, they ended up bringing Ben Ben back to the shelter. They said they couldn’t keep up with the amount of care Ben Ben had to have because of his injuries, and the sad fact that he could potentially not walk again.
Fortunately for him, a woman heard about Ben Ben’s serious condition, and decided to give him the loving home that he deserved. Ben Ben was set to be euthanized, but was adopted the day before that was scheduled to happen. Someone was looking out for him!

When he was brought to his new home, he settled in quickly. It only took an hour for this little guy to start showing up. He started to perk up, explore his new surroundings, and play with his new owners.
Ben Ben is walking, living it up with his new cat sisters and brothers, and loves being around his new mom and dad. Even though he looks sad on the outside, we know he is finally happy on the inside.
