Buster Murdaugh Believes His Dad Didn’t Kill His Mom And Brother: ‘Somebody Is Out There’

Buster Murdaugh is claiming his father is innocent. In a new Fox Nation series, Buster appears in an exclusive interview stating that he doesn't believe his father, Alex Murdaugh, had anything to do with the murder of his brother, 22-year-old Paul Murdaugh, and his mother, 52-year-old Margaret Murdaugh, also know as Maggie.

Earlier in 2023, Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of the horrific murders that took place in June 2021. He was sentenced to life in prison after a six-week trial. The former lawyer was also disbarred as a South Carolina attorney.

The Fall of the House of Murdaugh is set to premiere on Thursday, but exclusive clips have been released. In a clip of Buster, he shares that he does not believe his dad should be in prison.

“I do not think that he could be affiliated with endangering my mother and brother,” Buster said. “We have been here for a while now and that’s been my stance.”

Buster went on to indicate that he believes the killer is still on the loose and that he worries for his own safety daily. "That is what I believe. I think I set myself up to be safe but yes, when I go to bed at night I have a fear that there is somebody that is still out there."

However, the authorities are still set on their stance that Alex Murdaugh is guilty. “The evidence of guilt is overwhelming,” Judge Clifton Newman said when denying a motion for mistrial.

Evidence that prosecutors say proved Alex guilty were blood spatter found on his clothing, which placed him at the scene of the crime at the time of the murders. He also lied about his whereabouts on the night that the murders took place.

Buster also broke his silence around the 2015 death of his high school classmate, Stephen Smith. Buster has been at the center of rumors that he had something to do with the murder, but now he is clearing the air.

“I never had anything to do with his murder and I never had anything to do with him on a physical level of any regard,” he said. The teen's mother had his body exhumed for a second autopsy earlier this year, after Alex's trial.

“I don’t want to be rude here, but have you ever been accused of murdering somebody?” Buster asked the interviewer. “Well, let me tell you, this is very, very, very, very, very, it’s a terrible thing to place on somebody with absolutely no fact. I mean, it has harmed my reputation. I mean, people perceive me as a murderer.”
