After being together for 18 years, Robin Roberts and Amber Laign got married, and used their dog's Instagram to make the announcement on September 9. "My mommies are MARRIED!!!! Married?……yes….married!!!" reads an Instagram post from their dog's account. "Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts, 62, announced their engagement in January, but Robin and Amber have been together since 2005. They celebrated their marriage with an "intimate" ceremony in their backyard.
Robin also used her personal Instagram account to share photos from their special day. She shared a picture of them walking hand-in-hand and smiling while wearing white gowns. "An intimate, magical wedding ceremony in our backyard followed by a joyous reception…ohhhh the dancing!! We are immensely grateful to all for making it a day and a night to remember. Honeymoon here we come!" Robin captioned her post.
Robin spoke publicly of her relationship with Amber for the first time in 2013, in a Facebook post celebrating her "restored good health" 100 days after she had a bone marrow transplant. In her post, she wrote about many of the things she was grateful for, including her longtime partner, Amber.
"I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together," she wrote in the post. She had the bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with a rare disease called myelodysplastic syndrome.

Several years later, in 2021, Amber was diagnosed with breast cancer. Robin also received her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2007. Though they have gone through many ups and downs together, Robin said it has brought them closer together.
"We are partners. We will do whatever it takes, and I think that the illnesses that we have gone through, and are going through, have only strengthened us and made us more compassionate with each other and have a better understanding of each other," she told Good Morning America.
She also spoke about how their marriage was a "celebration," since they have already been together for many years.
"Many people go into marriage hoping for and looking for what Amber and I already know we have, and so ours is a celebration. We've been living our happily ever after through all the ups and downs, so it's a celebration," she said.
