Michael Phelps posted a series of pictures on Instagram over the weekend, captioning his photos with "What a weekend!!!!" But his exciting weekend was not what stood out to most fans. Many noticed that Michael's wife, Nicole, appears to be pregnant, meaning that Michael and Nicole are expecting their fourth child together. They have three sons: Boomer, 7, Beckett, 5, and Maverick, 3.
"Congratulations on Baby #4," one person wrote on Instagram. "As a mom to 4 boys and 1 girl (water polo/swimmers and a diver), big family’s are the best and so so fun❤️ especially when the time is spend poolside cheering each other in."
Many Instagram users congratulated the couple, with some saying that they hope the baby is a girl.
"Called it back in July!" one person wrote. "Congrats, hope it’s a baby girl for you ☺️ ."
Another commented: "Congratulations think pink due around Dec or Jan, guessing."
Many had no idea that Nicole was pregnant.
"Omg she’s pregnant again ?!!! ," another Instagram user added. "Wow didn’t know ….congratulations!!!! Hope it’s a girl ."
Michael has been very open about his mental health, and has said that going to therapy has made him better at parenting. “If we’re not taking care of ourselves, how are we supposed to take care of others?” he said to Today.com in January. He has also spoken about the importance of sharing your feelings and being vulnerable, emphasizing that doing so does not mean that a person is weak.
"Being a male athlete, I think felt like I had to be be big and macho and tough," he told the outlet at the time. “We’re taught to stuff things down and that sharing feelings is a sign of weakness.”
