Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson welcomed his youngest daughter, Tiana, with girlfriend Lauren Hashian in April. The former wrestling star opened up about the birth experience on Live With Kelly and Ryan. He says watching Lauren give birth to Tiana was a life-changing experience.
"I will say, it was the most amazing experience I've ever seen," Dwayne, 46, said. "I look at Lauren, and women and mothers, in a different light than I ever have before. And it was beautiful."
Dwayne has two older children: Simone Garcia Johnson, 16, and Jasmine Lia, 2. Though he was at both births, this is the first time he saw the actual action. With his other daughters, Dwayne made sure to stay above the drape. With Tiana, he braved it down under.
He was amazed by what he saw, and he was able to help Lauren with the birth in an entirely new way.
"I was encouraging her — holding her hand," Dwayne explained. "And the doctor said, 'Would you like to come and watch and help?' I said, 'Yup, I'm going to come down. Watch. Help.'"
"I'm holding legs, everything. And out comes the baby," Dwayne continued.
Dwayne has opened up about his appreciation for Lauren, a singer and songwriter, before.
"I was raised and surrounded by strong, loving women all my life, but after participating in baby Tia’s delivery, it’s hard to express the new level of love, respect and admiration I have for @laurenhashianofficial and all mamas and women out there," Dwayne wrote.
He thinks all fathers should see what he saw.
"Word to the wise gentlemen, it’s critical to be by your lady’s head when she’s delivering, being as supportive as you can.. holding hands, holding legs, whatever you can do. But, if you really want to understand the single most powerful and primal moment life will ever offer – watch your child being born. Its a life changer and the respect and admiration you have for a woman, will forever be boundless."
Dwayne and Lauren have one other daughter together, Jasmine Lia.
The couple has been together for almost a decade now.
They welcomed Jasmine Lia back in December 2015, and Tiana joined the family in April.
Prior to dating Lauren, Dwayne was married to Dany Garcia. The two have a daughter together, Simone Garcia Johnson, now 16.
Simone was the 2018 Golden Globe Ambassador (formerly known as Miss Golden Globe).
Lauren says the Rock is a doting, committed father to all of his kids.
"I already love you but to see you as a father made me fall in love you even more," Lauren wrote on Father's Day.
The touching tribute continued: "Playing and laughing constantly every time you’re together. Leading with your wisdom, guidance, patience, and compassion as they grow up. Always asking yourself how can I be the best father to each of my girls. Doing things to help me be the best mom I can. Allowing our 2 year old daughter to hold you hostage in her toy room daily, and steal your food from you every time you eat. Being so hands on even though sometimes it seems you work 8 days a week 😉 And you still rush home on those days to tuck in your babies."
Dwayne's latest movie, Skyscraper, comes out on July 13. But the accomplished actor still finds time to dress up as Pikachu for his kid.
And to teach Jasmine about feminism.
"Alright my queen, can we say 'Girl power!'" Dwayne coached Jasmine on International Women's Day.
