Tragedy struck in Cocoa, Florida, on September 5, 2023. A 3-month-old baby girl stopped breathing when under her dad Kevin Dorgan’s care. The infant was rushed to Rockledge Regional Medical Center. She died on October 7 and Dorgan faces charges of aggravated manslaughter.
According to officers, Dorgan confessed to leaving his daughter alone. He reportedly told them he went into the living room to watch YouTube videos. The baby’s mom was at work.
Dorgan allegedly made a pillow and blanket fort on the bed to keep his baby from rolling over. It did not work and he called 911 for emergency assistance. He found his daughter face down on the floor between the wall and mattress. He allegedly told responding officers he "[expletive] up" and "left her on the bed and should not have done that."
Dorgan went on to say he often leaves his children alone in another room. He likes to watch YouTube in the living room. He reportedly said he only checks on them if they are “whining.”
