Birthdays are a time of celebrating another turn around the sun. Mom, model, and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen turned 38 on November 30, 2023. She took to Instagram to share how she celebrated the big day. In true Chrissy fashion, she was honest about everything.
Chrissy celebrated in the traditional manner by hanging out with family and friends. She also did something unique and underwent ketamine therapy, which can sometimes have hallucinogenic effects. Chrissy revealed she saw her late baby son Jack during the process.
Chrissy appeared to have a wonderful day celebrating. "I had a really nice birthday ," she explained. "Went to to see my friends @flamingo_estate, had a beautiful lunch with friends, then did ketamine therapy and saw space and time and baby jack and some weird penguins and cried and cried and cried."
That wasn’t all Chrissy did. She also spent time with her children, Luna, 7, Miles, 5, Esti, 10 months, and Wren, 5 months, whom she shares with husband John Legend. "Then laid with my babies, then hot pot, then hung with my best friend ," she concluded. Sounds like a jammed-packed but fun day.

According to Harvard Health Publishing, ketamine is a dissociative psychedelic drug that is often used as an anesthetic. It recently has been approved to use in cases of treatment-resistant depression. It has been found to be more fast acting than SSRI drugs, which take weeks. Chrissy and John lost their son Jack when Chrissy was 20 weeks pregnant because of a partial placental abruption. Chrissy opened up about the experience at "A Day of Unreasonable Conversation" hosted by Propper Daley.
“Two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions,” she began. "It became very clear around halfway through that he would not survive, and that I wouldn’t either without any medical intervention.”
Chrissy originally told the world she lost Jack naturally, but she actually had an abortion which was hard for her to come to terms with. "Let's just call it what it was. It was an abortion,” she revealed. “An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago."
John also took to Instagram to celebrate his wife on her big day. "Happy Birthday to my lover, best friend and partner in everything! I’m so grateful you were born," he gushed. "So happy that we found each other 17 years ago. So in love with you and the big, beautiful family we’ve built together.”
John concluded with visions of their future. He loves their current life and looks forward to everything ahead of them. "Let’s grow old and celebrate so many more birthdays together. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," he added.
