Chet Hanks Once Said He Never Had A ‘Strong Male Role Model’ To Guide Him Growing Up

Chet Hanks made some statements about his parents a few years back, beloved Hollywood actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, that are raising eyebrows.

Chet, born Chester Hanks, opened up about growing up as the child of famous figures. He felt that socially, he was put in a lot of no-win situations. He felt like a lot of people had made up their minds about who he was and what he was like before getting to know him.

At one point, Chet says the reason he didn't better handle these situations is because he didn't have a "strong male role model" to teach him how to.

In his video, Chet states that he felt disregarded by many of his peers, who assumed he was "arrogant, entitled and spoiled."

"[I] didn't have a strong male role model to tell me 'bro, [expletive] these people, they are just jealous of you,'" he shared.

"You have all these things that they want, so they are trying to [expletive] throw their shade at you so you can feel [expletive] about yourself because they are jealous," he continued.

"It was extremely hard to break down their walls. So, I encountered a lot of disdain, a lot of animosity and negativity because everybody was just prepared to hate my guts."

Chet did acknowledge that he loved his parents, but said that his proximity to them made socializing hard for him.

"There's a lot of advantages, but sometimes it can be pretty weird," he said of being a celebrity's child.

"I got to do a lot of cool [expletive] that a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do."

"I got to travel the world, stay in nice hotels, fly on private planes, and I'm very blessed for that. I wouldn't change my situation,” he added.

Still, he felt the "experience was even more complicated because, on top of fame already being toxic, I wasn't even famous."

Chet explained that not earning his fame or notability himself made a lot of people resent him.

"I was just the son of somebody famous, so I hadn't even done anything to deserve any sort of recognition, and that created a lot of contempt."

These days, Chet is working on building his personal training and fitness business, Hanx Fit. His approach is bettering yourself as a whole. He helps by creating custom workout plans for his clients, including nutrition. He also teaches meditation techniques and even does some life coaching. His overall personal growth sessions happen over Zoom calls.
