Katie Couric normally breaks the news, but this time she is also the main story. Katie recently shared on Instagram that she is going to be a grandma. Her eldest daughter, Ellie Monahan, is going to have a baby. Ellie and sister Carrie told Katie in the most adorable way.
Katie, Ellie, and Carrie were all going to attend a Taylor Swift concert together over the summer. It is almost a requirement to have a friendship bracelet to see the show. Katie forgot hers but Ellie had a special one made for her mom.
It appears that Ellie’s husband Mark Dobrosky caught the whole thing on camera. Katie lamented her lack of a bracelet and Ellie came to the rescue. Katie tried to read the bracelet at first thinking it said brandy or brand. She finally figured out it said “granny to be” and the message took a second to sink in.
Ellie helped her mom out. “I’m pregnant,” she explains. Katie appears to be shocked. "You are? Wow,” she replies. Grandma just needed some time to process.

Katie could not be happier for her daughter. “Been dying to tell you. This is what happens when you go to a @taylorswift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, ‘Don’t worry, we made one for you!’” she captioned her post.
