The 2024 election is not that far away. Behind the scenes, discussions of running mates are almost certainly already underway. According to an Axios report, Melania Trump has strong opinions on who her husband’s running mate should be.
The outlet reports that Melania believes former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is the man for the job. Not everyone agrees with her. No official announcements have been made from former President Donald Trump’s campaign, which claims to be solely focused on securing the election.
Melania thinks that Tucker would be a “powerful onstage extension” of her husband. They also claim that the former president is considering J.D. Vance, a Republican senator from Idaho, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem. Other names being floated around are Byron Donalds, who currently represents Florida in the House, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who currently serves in the House representing Georgia.
According to Axios, not everyone working on Donald Trump’s campaign agrees with the former first lady. Some worry Tucker could outshine the former president. Others worry he would be too hard to control.

One of Donald Trump’s aides went on the record with the New York Post and denied the Axios story. “The Axios story is pure fiction,” the aide stated. “Unless there is a formal announcement from President Trump or his campaign team, then it’s just speculation and not coming from us. President Trump is solely focused on winning the Republican nomination and then defeating Crooked Joe Biden in the general election.”
