Guy Fieri has some requirements of his sons before allowing them to inherit any money from him. The 55-year-old Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives star opened up in an interview with Fox News. He says that unless they intend to go to college, they won't be getting a piece of his fortune, and from how he explained it he's got a real point!
The Food Network star wants to instill the same work ethic into his children that his own father instilled into him. While it's a good tactic, his children don't fully see the point yet.
Guy shares his two sons, 27-year-old Hunter and 17-year-old Ryder with his wife, 52-year-old Lori. He also helped raise his nephew, 22-year-old Jules, since the death of his sister Morgan in 2011.
“I’ve told them the same thing my dad told me," the chef explained. "My dad says, ‘When I die, you can expect that I’m going to die broke, and you’re going to be paying for the funeral.' And I told my boys, 'None of this that we’ve been … that I’ve been building are you going to get unless you come and take it from me.’”

Guy quoted NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal. “Shaq said at best. Shaq said, ‘If you want this cheese, you got to get to two degrees.’ Well, my two degrees mean, you know, postgraduate.”
Ryder, who's still a senior in high school, feels the pressure. “Dad, this is so unfair. I haven’t even gone to college yet, and you’re already pushing that I’ve got to get an MBA? Can I just get through college?" is what Guy recalls his son saying during the conversation. But that hasn't made the restaurateur buckle on his plan.
Currently, his nephew is earning a law degree. “Jules is in the music industry down in LA. He's in the law program at Loyola Marymount right now,” Guy said. “If you're going to be a big-time entertainment agent, you need to have that law background. So he’s doing that.”
Guy's eldest, Hunter, is also getting his master's degree. He's currently in an MBA program for business at the University of Miami.
The celebrity chef signed a three-year deal with Food Network for $100 million in November 2023. He shares that this accomplishment makes him feel humbled.
"I'm so appreciative. I really feel fortunate," he shared. "I started at the Food Network almost 17, 18 years ago. And never thought anything like this was ever coming my way."
