David Foster’s Daughter Steps In Amid Accusation That He Abandoned His Adult Daughters

An Instagram user is not happy with the way David Foster, 74, has treated his adult children after having 2-year-old Rennie with his wife Katharine McPhee, 39. But one of David's daughters says she has a good relationship with her dad.

The whole incident started with a video that David shared on Instagram that showed Rennie drumming. Many were amazed by Rennie's talent, but one Instagram user jumped in to critique David's parenting: "Lol!!!! He is the dad….. He's also got daughters(he abandoned) older than me."

She wrote the comment in response to another that said "when your dad is David Foster," clearly suggesting that Rennie is musically gifted for a reason.

Some people agreed with the Instagram user's allegations about David's parenting — except his daughter didn't.

One of his adult children, Amy Foster, 50, replied to the comment.

"Hi….im a daughter…absolutely no abandonment," David's daughter Amy wrote. "I literally just talked to my dad five minutes ago."

Amy wondered why the Instagram user decided to critique her dad's parenting when responding to a video of a toddler playing the drums. "Are you sticking up for us?" Amy continued. "It’s so hard to tell these days…you see a video with an amazing two year old and your take away is something negative?"

If the Instagram user was trying to stick up for David's adult daughters, Amy assured her that it isn't necessary. "All you have to do is look at the comments and Rennie’s sisters have all chimed in with compliments…We’re great," she told the Instagram user.

"We love our dad. Our dad loves us and we love how our dad is with Rennie," Amy continued.

David Foster has five adult daughters: Amy, Allison, 53, Sara, 42, Erin, 41, and Jordan, 37. Amy isn't the only one who commented on her dad's post.

"This is insane," Sara commented, complimenting her younger brother's drumming skills.

David told People that he is "really proud" of his daughters. "They've embraced Rennie and it's actually great," he told the outlet.

David previously told People that being a father to Rennie is a bit different because he has more time now compared to when he had his daughters.

"It's the standard thing of like, 'Oh, well you were so young when you had your children and you were working day and night, you never saw them.' And there is some truth to that, sadly, for my (older) kids," David admitted. "I was just working a lot. Even though I'm working a lot now, I'll cancel anything just to hang with him. It's just different."
