Jack Nicholson’s friends have started voicing their concerns about the actor’s isolating behaviors.
The Academy Award winner was last seen out at a basketball game in April 2023 and prior to that at a Lakers game with his son in October 2021.
Sources who claim to be friends with Jack told RadarOnline that he’s “living like a recluse.”
Multiple sources have reportedly said the 85-year-old “doesn’t leave his house anymore” and that his “mind is gone,” apparently worried about possible dementia.
The father of five reportedly spends most of his time at home in his Beverly Hills mansion. For years, he shared a driveway with his longtime friend, the late Marlon Brando, and purchased Brando's house back in 2005, demolishing it and turning it into a garden.
“He’s made it clear his home is his castle. But people just wish he’d come out of the house and pop up to tell them how – or at least reassure folks he’s OK,” a source told the RadarOnline.
It sounds like the actor just wants to hang out at home right now, and we can relate to that. The report does say that his children keep him company from time to time.
“Jack’s in touch with certain relatives – especially Ray, his protégé, who he’s so proud of – but his socializing days are long gone,” one source told the outlet, referring to Nicholson’s 30-year-old son.
The friends of The Shining star are starting to compare him to Brando, who lived a colorful life in Hollywood until his later years, when he kept to himself.
“Brando died a virtual recluse after leading such a colorful life, and Jack’s friends are drawing the comparisons,” another source added.
“His kids will visit, but they’re his only connection to the world,” the source continued.
“It’s like he doesn’t want to face reality anymore and that’s just sad.”
Jack’s last project was a 2011 rom-com in which he starred alongside Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, and Owen Wilson.
His son, Ray, is following in his father’s footsteps and pursuing a career in acting. He was recently in Licorice Pizza and Promising Young Woman.
