Tracy Chapman And Luke Combs Make The Crowd Go Wild With Their Duet At The Grammys

Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs' iconic duet was a highlight of the 2024 Grammys. The crowd was in awe when the singer-songwriter joined the country artist for a performance of her 1988 song “Fast Car.” Celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Kelly Clarkson were seen on their feet, singing along. Some of them were even caught wiping tears from their eyes. Tracy's appearance was a huge surprise, as she's only performed in front of the camera three times since 2009.

Luke covered "Fast Car" in 2023, which made the song top the charts that year. His cover made Tracy the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as a song’s solo writer.

The cover was nominated for best country solo performance at the Grammy's for 2024. However, it lost to Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse.”
