Carmel Thatcher, a hardworking single mom and nurse, had been pushing herself to the limit. She had been working double shifts at the local hospital for almost three weeks. She could no longer tell the difference between days and nights as everything felt like a blur.
Carmel’s husband had sadly died three years ago, leaving her a single parent of three lovely boys. With every extra shift and hour of overtime she worked, Carmel thought of her three sons and how this money was going to help them on their way to a promising future.
Even though she knew she needed to work hard for them as their sole provider, she still yearned for more time with her boys. This is why on a random Saturday off, she decided to take her sons out for dinner at their local Denny’s, one of their favorite restaurants.
As the group got settled into a booth and tried to decide what they were going to order, they couldn’t help but notice an older man sitting by himself at a table in the corner. Carmel took one look at the man and quickly decided that he must own that expensive-looking motorcycle parked outside the Denny’s.
Maybe she was judging a book by its cover, but Carmel noticed the man’s arms completely covered in tattoos, his leather jacket, and nearby bandana, and she couldn’t help but feel somewhat uneasy. Perhaps it wasn’t fair, but he certainly didn’t appear very friendly either.
