Michigan Mom Hits Out At Inappropriate Target Dresses For Girls: ‘Look At These Slits’

One mom gathered the opinions of fellow TikTokers after stumbling upon some Target kids' dresses that she deemed to be a little inappropriate. Meghan Mayer of Michigan saw a dress for girls that, at first glance, appeared to be a cute and modest design. But when she started inspecting it closer, she noticed that there were cutouts at the sides.

"My oldest daughter and I are at Target, and there's some cute, like, spring stuff," she began. "I am a little bit more conservative when it comes to my kids' clothes so maybe I'm overreacting, but let me know what you think of these dresses."

She proceeded to show the dress designs up close. "Look at these little slits on the sides of these dresses. Right at the hips on all of these dresses," she said, adding that she initially thought it'd be a cute dress for Easter before examining it closely.

"But like, 6, 7 year old, we're gonna expose this much skin on either side for like… I don't think this is appropriate at all for this age group." The consensus of TikTok was divided.

One user commented: "You're not overreacting. You're parenting properly."

"I think retailers are trying to mature our kids too fast," another person commented. "I agree with mom!"

Others didn't really see a problem with the slits.

"Unpopular opinion, I think they’re cute," one mom wrote.

"Overreacting," another mom chimed in. "Both my girls have the blue and white, you can’t even tell much, it’s not that big of a hole. The dresses are so cute."
