Woman Goes On Jog & Finds Baby Buried At Park, Ends Up Reuniting With Him Decades Later

Sometimes when you’re just going about your normal routine, something will happen that will completely take you by surprise and change your worldview in a mere moment.

It was a seemingly average morning when an active woman named Azita Milanian went out for her daily jog with her two dogs. To get out her energy before a long shift nursing at the hospital in Altadena, California, Azita found that a good run expelled some of the tension that can build up when you’re working in a stressful environment.

She typically ran through some trails in her neighborhood and would usually pass by a small park. In the early morning hours, the park and trails were usually deserted, so she was used to running without spectators.

As she was making her way through the park, her dogs caught a whiff of something and started to lead her deeper into the recreation grounds. According to People, Azita’s dogs led her in the direction of what she thought looked like a dead animal, but it ended up being something very different.

The entertainment news outlet reports that Azita and her four-legged friends stumbled upon “a newborn baby wrapped in a towel with its umbilical cord still attached.” The baby appeared to be just a few hours old and was “buried alive.”

People reports that after Azita made this shocking discovery, the baby was taken to a nearby hospital and eventually placed for adoption. The Los Angeles Times reports that after 20 years, due to a news story related to the baby who grew up to be Matthew Whitaker, he was able to be reunited with the woman who saved his life that fateful morning.
