Decades ago, a man now known as "Pops" was one of the most active heroin dealers in the United States. He was only 15 when he started using the deadly drug.
The notoriously dangerous and mean man earned the nickname "El Diablo." He'd often rob banks just to feed his addiction and drug deals.
Despite these facts, he fell in love, got married, and lovingly adopted his wife's two children, Pops continued using drugs and dealing in America and Mexico. For many years, he led a dark and twisted double life of addiction and crime.
Over time, his wife became fed up with his behavior and gave him an ultimatum: it was either her or the drugs.
Pops abandoned his wife of 12 years and their two children. Over the course of the next 30 years, he fell into a downward spiral at the hands of alcohol, heroin, and morphine. Every night, he'd think about his family and weep… but he knew he couldn't expose them to his demons.
Then, in 2009, Pops was watching a Christian program and something inside him clicked. He finally realized he needed to get help or he was going to die.

He gathered all the strength he possibly could and walked into the Union Rescue Mission. He worked tirelessly to get himself clean and face his past.
One year later, Pops was healthier than ever before — and he set off on the journey to find his wife and children after 30 years.
