A woman in Brazil has been arrested after taking a corpse to the bank to sign off on a $3,250 loan. The 68-year-old man was in a wheelchair and didn't respond to anything the woman said. Even worse, bank employees noticed that the man couldn't keep his head up, and the woman kept trying to hold it up again after it fell back.
She held a pen to try to get him to sign off on her loan. When she told him to sign and he didn't respond, the woman, Érika de Souza Vieira Nunes, tried to justify it by saying, "He doesn't say anything, that's just how he is," KSL.com reported.
"If you're not OK, I'm going to take you to the hospital," she continued, speaking to the man, according to the outlet. She had called the man "uncle" when speaking to him.
However, investigators later said that she knew the man was dead when she took him to the bank.
Brazilian outlet O Dia reported that concerned bank employees called the police and the woman was arrested on fraud charges and for violating a corpse.
The woman's lawyer has tried to say that the man died while at the bank, reported KSL.com, but investigator Fábio Luiz Souza told local news show Bom Dia Rio that the man had already died at least two hours prior.

Disturbing footage of the incident, which has been shared on social media, also shows the woman saying, “Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign. If you don’t sign, there’s no way, because I can’t sign for you."
“Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches, I can’t take it anymore,” she continued, even though the man was already dead.
