An Idaho man was arrested after an incident involving bison at Yellowstone National Park. The 40-year-old man was also injured because he got too close to a bison, and he was treated for his injuries, according to a Yellowstone National Park news release.
A woman that he was with was also arrested. The man allegedly "harassed a herd of bison" and kicked a bison on April 21, 2024, according to the news release. He was arrested on alcohol-related charges, and was also charged with disorderly conduct, approaching wildlife, and disturbing wildlife.
The woman he was with has been accused of driving under the influence, disturbing wildlife and "failure to yield to emergency light activation."
Both the man and the woman pleaded not guilty.
The incident is still under investigation. If found guilty, the man and woman might pay fines up to $5,000 and spend six months in jail, according to the park service.

The park reminded visitors that it's important to give wild animals space. When it comes to large animals like bison, the park says visitors should stay more than 25 yards away from them.
This is the first time this year that a visitor at the park has reported being injured by a bison. In 2023, there was one report of a visitor being injured by a bison.
