In an unexpected twist to what started as a day of panic and worry, Marsha Baker found herself in a situation straight out of a movie. Her cherished 30th-anniversary ring went missing, and all evidence pointed to a surprising suspect: Ember, the family's beloved 2-year-old goldendoodle.
The ordeal began when Marsha realized that her ring, which she had placed on the dresser, was nowhere to be found. "I'm, like, crying because I can't find the ring and I kind of knew who did it," Marsha recalled. She initially suspected that Ember had taken the ring and perhaps dropped it somewhere in the yard. Driven by this hunch, she began meticulously combing through the grass, hoping to spot the precious item.
But her daughter Michaela had a different approach in mind. "I'm like, let me grab this metal detector before it gets too dark and then we'll head to the house," Michaela said. This turned out to be a pivotal decision. A Ring camera captured Michaela and her husband arriving at the house, equipped with metal detectors, to aid in the search.
Before starting a thorough sweep of the yard, Michaela had a thought: what if Ember had actually swallowed the ring? Acting on this suspicion, they passed the metal detector over Ember’s stomach. To everyone's astonishment, it started beeping immediately.
An X-ray at the vet confirmed their suspicions: the ring was indeed inside Ember's stomach. A gastrointestinal endoscopy was promptly performed to retrieve the ring, and fortunately, both Ember and the ring were unharmed. "I got a phone call and he said um, we got the ring out, Ember's fine, the ring's fine," Marsha recounted, relieved and grateful.

Now safely back on Marsha's hand, the ring's journey had a happy ending, thanks to quick thinking and modern technology.
