Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has a deep-rooted passion for philanthropy. The beloved star athlete was born in the Philippines where his American Baptist parents worked as missionaries for over 30 years.
During his very first missionary trip with his parents as a teenager, Tim traveled to a remote island and met a Filipino boy named Sherwin. Sherwin had a leg deformity that prevented him from normal everyday life. Tim was so inspired by his meeting with Sherwin that he went on to establish the Tim Tebow Foundation. His organization serves those individuals without the means to receive the aid and care they desperately need.
One day in 2018, an 11-year-old boy named Aldrin walked into the Tebow CURE Hospital in the Philippines. He, too, suffered from a severe leg deformity — and Tim was instantly reminded of his old friend Sherwin. Tim looked at Aldrin's photo in awe and was equally blown away by his heartbreaking story.

Aldrin was born with a congenital knee dislocation that caused his knees to bend in the opposite direction "like a flamingo." He lived his life in pain and could barely stand up. He was also the victim of relentless bullying and was constantly teased and taunted because of his appearance. It got the point where Aldrin felt he had no purpose in life.
Tim knew exactly what he needed to do. The medical team at the Tebow CURE Hospital put together a plan for Aldrin.
