If you’ve ever spent an extended amount of time in the hospital after a medical procedure, you might be familiar with some of the creative concepts that doctors and nurses may have to practice from time to time to ensure their patients are safe and in good health.
In a quiet suburban neighborhood, Jill and Mark lived a happy life filled with aspirations that you might expect of a married couple in their 20s. Jill was a high school teacher who was adored by her students for her sweet nature. Mark worked as an accountant and was a steadfast and supportive husband.
One of their dreams was to become parents. The road to parenthood was not smooth for this couple as they had to withstand years of fertility treatments to conceive. One weekend morning shortly after Jill got a positive pregnancy test, the pair knew that their dream was soon going to come true.
The next few months went by quickly. When Jill was about three weeks from her due date, she started to feel unwell. She told Mark that something wasn’t right and that they needed to visit her doctor immediately.
After a few routine tests, Jill’s doctor told them that there was an umbilical cord abnormality showing up in the scans and even though she technically had three weeks to go, for the health of the baby, they needed to deliver that day.

As Jill and her newborn daughter recovered, her doctor returned to Jill’s room with a worried look on his face. He told Jill that little Darcy had to be moved to the neonatal unit so they could perform the sandwich bag technique on her due to her premature birth.
