Coldplay surprised fans at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK by inviting Michael J. Fox on stage to perform. The Back to the Future actor, 63, played guitar for the band's performance of "Fix You."
The band's frontman, Chris Martin, also thanked the actor with a heartfelt shoutout. "The main reason we’re in a band is because of Back to the Future," Martin revealed, reports Variety. "So thank you to Michael, our hero."
In 1991, Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at the age of 29. Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder, so symptoms get worse over time. Though symptoms present differently depending on the person, notes Mayo Clinic, some symptoms include balance issues, impaired posture, speech and writing changes, rhythmic shaking, and slowed movement.
In 2023, Michael opened up about his experience living with Parkinson's. "It sucks having Parkinson's," he said at the time.
This was not the first time that Michael performed alongside Coldplay. The band also invited him to perform with them in 2016. Michael took to Instagram to reflect on this year's performance.
