‘American Idol’ Scotty McCreery Stops Concert To Call Out Man Who Allegedly Hit A Woman

Country music star Scotty McCreery had just started singing "It Matters to Her" when he abruptly stopped performing to call out a man in the audience. A man at the Colorado State Fair concert on Saturday, August 24, 2024, allegedly hit a woman. The man and woman's identities have not been shared as of August 29.

The American Idol alum didn't start performing again until the man was escorted out of the concert. The incident was captured on video and shared on social media. "Hey, hey, hey, right here. That’s a lady you just hit, sir," Scotty said just after he started performing, addressing the man directly.

After confronting the man who allegedly hit someone, Scotty, 30, addressed security and asked them to get involved. "Absolutely not, who just hit the lady? Police, security, is she OK?" he continued.

He addressed the man again: "On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing?"

He paused the show for several minutes as he waited for the man to leave his concert. He also asked the audience to help. "Y'all let the cop know who hit the lady," he told the crowd. "That’s absolutely unacceptable."

The man was eventually escorted out of the concert, but it's unclear what happened afterward. Officials with the Colorado State Fair confirmed that the incident occurred and was under investigation. They did not say whether the man had been arrested.

"We can confirm that an incident took place at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the performer stopped the show," Olga Robak, director of communications with the Colorado Department of Agriculture said in a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly.

"Colorado State Fair security assisted with crowd control. This incident is still under investigation and we cannot comment further," the statement continued.

Scotty checked in with security and the audience in general before he started performing again. "We got 'em? We good down there?” he asked.

"Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady. Get the heck out of here," he added.
