Though some people are skeptical of Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick's relationship given that they have a 44-year age gap, Melanie doesn't seem too bothered by it. In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Melanie, 37, said she's not worried about other people's opinions when it comes to her romantic relationship with the Rolling Stones frontman, 81.
"I don’t think about [the age gap]," she told The Sunday Times. "Everyone’s going to have their opinion. If you think about others’ opinions, no matter where you are in life, you’re going to have a problem and you’re going to analyze it."
"I put the blinders on," Melanie continued. "Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. OK, they can mind their own business.”
Mick and Melanie have been together since 2014. In 2016, they welcomed a son named Deveraux.
Their son is now 7 years old. Melanie was a ballerina, but now focuses on writing. Her boyfriend is the one who encouraged her to pursue her dreams of writing a book, she told The Sunday Times.
Her steamy novels are inspired by her time as a ballerina. Mick has shared his feedback on her work. "[Mick’s], like, 'Throbbing was used a lot in book two,'" Melanie told the publication.

Melanie explained to the news outlet that she was not starstruck when she met Mick Jagger because of her experience as a ballerina.
"Ballet dancers meet some of the biggest stars and act, like, 'Who are you?' Because, to us, ballet dancers are the gods. That’s who you study and look up to. You’re so in your world," she said.
She met Mick when American Ballet Theatre dancers were given tickets to a Rolling Stones concert in February 2014. Melanie was 26 years old at the time and had not been to a Rolling Stones concert before.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, she recalled meeting Mick Jagger for the first time.
She told the news outlet that she was backstage at the show and Mick Jagger gave her a fist bump. "He’s about to go on stage, he’s in his moment," she told the news outlet, describing the moment when they first interacted with each other. "Everyone has their different thing."
