Katy Perry Publicly Praises Taylor Swift & Her ‘Eras Tour’ After Years-Long Feud

It’s no secret that Katy Perry and Taylor Swift haven’t always been friendly. The pop stars were once embroiled in a public feud that spilled over into their music. However, Katy Perry recently publicly praised Taylor Swift and her Eras Tour after their years-long beef.

The animosity between the singers began after Katy hired several of Taylor’s backup dancers for her Prismatic World Tour in 2014. Later, Taylor’s song “Bad Blood” was rumored to be about Katy. Katy’s song “Swish Swish” was similarly interpreted as a diss track about Taylor. Now, it seems that is all in the past.

In February 2024, Katy attended an Eras Tour show in Sydney. She recently opened up about it during an interview with a UK radio station, Capital Radio.

“I actually went and did a show in Australia very quickly and I had one day off before the show,” Katy recalled, per the Daily Mail. “And I was like, ‘Hey girl, I’m gonna come to the show.’ And [Taylor] was so excited and I was so excited.”

Katy lauded Taylor’s fans as an “adorable sweet community” while speaking about exchanging friendship bracelets at the Eras Tour show.

“People gave me bracelets and I think Rita [Ora] gave me a bracelet,” she added. “I loved it. It’s just like a community, it’s an adorable sweet community.”

In addition to praising fans, Katy shared kind words about her former nemesis.

“I got to see her and we got to catch up,” she said of Taylor. “And I love her so much.”

On February 23, 2024, Katy shared photos from the Eras Tour concert via Instagram. Fans were shocked to see the featured image was a selfie of her and the “Cruel Summer” singer. “Got to see an old friend shine tonight ♥️✨,” Katy captioned the update.

In 2019, Katy and Taylor put their differences aside in a public way when they collaborated on Taylor’s “You Need to Calm Down” music video. Katy dressed as a cheeseburger, and Taylor dressed as fries — and the two embraced near the end.

“When I thought of this concept for the video, and I wrote the treatment, I thought of this idea and I thought, ‘You know what, I’m just going to ask her if she would be interested in this and I would totally be fine if she’d rather keep it private and keep it between us,’” Taylor told BBC Radio 1 in June 2019, per Entertainment Tonight.  “But I sent it to her and she said, ‘I would love for us to be a symbol of redemption and forgiveness.’ And, I feel the same way about it.”
