Dad Arrested After Jumping From Speeding Car During Domestic Dispute With Kids Still Inside

There is a lot about the universe I don’t know or understand, but one thing I grow more certain of is that karma is real. Although it may not happen swiftly or as largely as some people hope, I think the world matches the energy you put into it. And luckily, one alleged domestic abuser got his.

Albert Searcy, 46, is recovering behind bars after abandoning his family by jumping out of a moving vehicle while they were inside, according to People. The family was making their way back to Louisiana after briefly living in Florida, Searcy’s wife and mom to the children in the car, Heather, told Florida’s Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

In a statement posted November 10, 2025, on Facebook, the sheriff’s office shared that a child called to report her parents were fighting while driving down Highway 79. The girl was able to describe the vehicle before the call “disconnected.” Deputies located the vehicle matching the description and turned on their lights in an attempt to pull over the vehicle. The driver, Albert Searcy, opened the door and jumped out of the vehicle, trying to leave the scene.

Heather reportedly climbed over the center console to take control of the vehicle, saving the lives of everyone inside. She revealed to police that she had asked Albert to allow her and the kids to get out of the car and he refused. She also stated that when he learned the daughter had called 911, he struck her and took the phone away.

Police noted that when they got to Heather, she appeared to have “signs consistent with a physical altercation,” the sheriff’s office’s statement read.

Community members in the comments section of the police statement expressed their worry and relief that the mom and her kids were largely unharmed.

“If anyone knows the family. My daughter and myself and grandson will be more than glad to drive them down to Louisiana. My daughter lived down there before,” offered one sweet community member. “Or we could take her half way. If her family could meet the other way here.”

“As an adult who watched many a time my dad beat my mom in the car and in the house growing up I feel for those babies,” added someone else. “I’m glad he was arrested and his wife and children are ok. Please ma’am for the sake of your babies. Walk away from him. They’ll be in my prayers.”

Albert was placed under arrest, taken to Washington County Jail and was charged with the following:

  • Tampering with or harassing a witness
  • Domestic violence battery
  • Fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer
  • Resisting arrest without violence
  • Child abuse
  • False imprisonment
  • Driving while license suspended or revoked

He has yet to appear in court so no bail has been officially set.
