Doctor Accused Of Secretly Shoving Crushed Abortion Pills Into Sleeping Girlfriend’s Mouth

When we talk about a woman’s right to choose when it comes to giving birth, people make the huge mistake of assuming that means every pro-abortion advocate is “anti-life.” In truth, however, it’s more that we are for women having bodily autonomy over themselves and control over bringing a life into this world. A sad reality is that a lot of people feel entitled to make that decision for women on both ends of this complicated spectrum.

A Toledo, Ohio, doctor has proved that anyone is capable of doing of such a thing because he is accused of literally forcing his girlfriend to abort her fetus by abusing his power and her.

Hassan-James Abbas, 32, was a surgical resident at the University of Toledo and allegedly used his position to obtain abortion-induction pills, according to Law & Crime. He used his estranged wife’s name to obtain the medication, which he set his personal information to for billing via a telemedicine doctor, the New York Post reported. What he did with it was even more disturbing: He reportedly forced his girlfriend to ingest it by crushing the medication and shoving it into her mouth.

“He got on top of me and put his fingers in my mouth,” his girlfriend recalled to WTOL 11. “I laid there and I went back and forth in my head [wondering] if he was gonna kill me.”

He allegedly ran his medication-laced fingers over her teeth and gums. In court records reviewed by Law & Crime, it was stated that Abbas procured the medication after the victim agreed to have an abortion.

“[The victim] woke up at 4:00 a.m. and saw that you were awake. She fell back asleep and then awoke to you physically on top of her. She thought it was a hug but then, holding her down, you took your fingers and forced a crushed powder inside her bottom lip, beside her gums. You continued to hold [the victim] down.”

The girlfriend reportedly escaped to the kitchen and called 911 when Abbas allegedly took the phone and ended the call. At this point, Abbas reportedly forced her to listen to him justify his actions for half an hour, per the Post. She then drove herself to the emergency room and told staff she had been attacked. In July of 2025, Abbas reportedly largely confirmed the woman’s accounts to the medical board.

The only difference in their stories is that Abbas claimed that the victim previously had agreed to take the medication.

While at the hospital, the victim learned her pregnancy was terminated, and she was treated for vaginal bleeding.

Abbas faces six felony charges including abduction, tampering with evidence, unlawful distribution of an abortion-inducing drug, disrupting public services, identity fraud, and deception to obtain a dangerous drug. His medical license has been suspended.
