Lauren Sánchez is currently married to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, but before they tied the knot, she reportedly had a crush on another controversial man. Just before their wedding, a seemingly flirtatious interaction between Sánchez and her alleged crush, Bill Clinton, resurfaced. And now, in a new lawsuit, one of Sánchez’s former friends is saying she actually had a pretty big crush on the former president, to the point that she was nicknamed “Monica.”
Yoga instructor Alanna Zabel is suing Sánchez, along with the Collective Book Studio and Simon & Schuster, because of a book she published in 2024. But in the lawsuit, she also mentioned Sánchez’s alleged crush on Clinton.
Apparently, Sánchez thought Clinton was “so sexy.”
At least that’s what Zabel told The New York Post. “She said [Clinton] was so sexy and mesmerizing,” Zabel said of Sánchez, adding that “she couldn’t stop talking about Bill Clinton.” Because of this alleged crush, Sánchez was determined to find a way to interact with Clinton. “She really wanted to meet him and get an interview,” Zabel claimed when speaking to the publication.
In her lawsuit, she mentioned the “Monica” nickname.

Given how Monica Lewinsky has been treated in the media and talked about for nearly three decades at this point, it seems like some might find being called “Monica” a bit derogatory or mean-spirited. However, Zabel claimed that Sánchez actually seemed to appreciate this nickname. Zabel’s lawsuit also stated, “In communications with Sánchez, Zabel sometimes used the name ‘Monica’ to refer to Sánchez.”
In 2010, Sánchez really did achieve her dream of interviewing Clinton, and a clip from the interview resurfaced on social media just before Sánchez married her current husband in 2025. After seeing the clip, some people on social media couldn’t help but admire Sánchez for her flirting skills. Some people even called her an “expert” and a “professional.” One social media user noticed that Sánchez appeared to be “on a mission” at the time, and another person said “her flirting skills are top notch.”
Sánchez and Bezos first met about six years later.
Both of them were married at the time. Their romance first came to light in 2019. In June 2025, they had a notoriously lavish wedding in Italy with lots of celebrity guests. During a recent interview with Extra, Sánchez said, “It was really incredible being there with, you know, all of our kids, our family, our best friends, and we danced all night. It was really, really fun.”
She also revealed that her daughter, Ella, 18, gave a speech that made her cry. “My daughter gave a speech during the ceremony, this was before we said our vows, and [I] started bawling,” she said. “Like, I could not- I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh’ right before the pictures. And so all of our kids gave these speeches and they were all extremely emotional and loving and I think they made the wedding what it was.”
She’s currently promoting her second children’s book, “The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea.”
Her first children’s book, The Fly Who Flew to Space, is at the center of Zabel’s lawsuit. Zabel pointed out that she published a similar book, Dharma Kitty Goes to Mars, just a year before. Besides, Zabel also claimed that she and Sánchez originally had plans to publish a book together. Back when they wanted to collaborate, they had reportedly discussed ideas with each other.
When speaking to The New York Post, Zabel accused Sánchez of stealing her “passion” and passing it off as her own after marrying “the richest guy in the world.”
